Outdoor Learning

Hitherfield is lucky to have wonderful school grounds and we make the most of these for all areas of the curriculum. Why not do your maths or English outside, if it helps you focus and makes the learning more interesting! We also have our wonderful Edible Playground, where children from all year groups will learn about seasonality, growing fruit and vegetables, harvesting and how to use what they have grown in basic recipes.

Outdoor Adventure

In the second part of the summer term children from Year 1 upwards will experience outdoor adventure sessions, where they will learn how to make shelters, build campfires safely and other Bushcraft skills. As they get older they will also camp on the school site, learning how to put up and take down tents, all in preparation for their week away in Year 6 at an adventure camp.

Children in our Early Years have access to outdoor learning environments on a daily basis.
