School Meals

In collaboration with our school caterer, Harrisons, we ensure that all food provided at the school is healthy, apetising and fresh. We recognise the importance of good quality school meals and that is why our school meals have been awarded the Food for Life Gold Award. Our school kitchen has consistently been awarded 5 stars in the hygiene rating – the highest rating possible.

Hitherfield takes seriously the vital role it has in educating pupils about healthy eating and exercise. Through our Edible Playground pupils experience where fruit and vegetables come from, how they are grown and their seasonality. Every pupil at Hitherfield is involved in the growing and harvesting of fruit and vegetables and this has resulted in them tasting and enjoying a greater range of foods. Every child in the nursery has free milk and all our infant children are provided with a free piece of fruit during their morning break.
