Art and Design at Hitherfield

At Hitherfield we have mapped the requirements of the National Curriculum for Art and Design across a progression framework then sequenced into year groups to ensure pupils secure an age-appropriate development of skills. Medium term plans for each sequence of work map out the skills, knowledge, vocabulary and links to prior learning which will be taught. 

The artists and mediums studied have been chosen to reflect the heritages and interests of our diverse community.  There is also a focus on well known local and international artists to build pupils’ cultural capital.
