Hitherfield follows the Charanga's Original Scheme for Music in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). This scheme of work meets all of the statutory curricular requirements of the National Curriculum.
In Years 3 and 4, music lessons are delivered by the Lambeth Music Service which is part funded by the Department of Education and Arts Council England. In these music sessions, Hitherfield pupils are taught to play musical instruments and the programme builds towards a final performance in the Royal Festival Hall at the end of Year 4.
